Sydell’s neat Model 811 sectional feeder for hornless goats stops those wasteful behaviors cold (and the feeders work for other small livestock, too). Like Quick Feed automatic feeders, it holds 50 pounds of concentrates, feeds up to 12 times per day and comes in electric or solar- powered versions, including a 230-volt version for overseas customers.Īnyone who feeds hay or grain from tubs knows how annoying (and wasteful) it is when animals dump them over or stand in them. All Quick Feed units are constructed of high-impact, polyurethane plastic and designed to be mounted under cover or indoors.Īgpro’s watertight, rodent-proof, stainless steel Pro Feeder can be used indoors or out, and while it’s built for horses, it can be used to feed livestock and pets as well. It can be programmed to dispense one to five cups of feed up to 12 times per 24-hour period. The QFS electronic feeder holds 50 pounds of pellets or grain, or 25 pounds of dog or cat food. Quick Feed automatic grain feeders come in manual, electronic and solar-powered models in single- and double-feed units designed to feed horses, small livestock and household pets. It can be stall- or fence-mounted and used to feed virtually any sort of livestock that eats baled hay. This, plus its close-to-the-ground manger, is designed to simulate natural grazing activity. The galvanized steel, battery-operated Stable Grazer is engineered to deliver individual flakes of hay up to six times per day. The answer? Timed setups based on HayDay’s Stable Grazer hay feeder coupled with an automatic grain dispenser. Sometimes it’s hard to feed on schedule, yet livestock thrive when fed on time. Designed with a roomy central area to allow animals to eat hay with their heads at ground level in a natural grazing position, and with two built-in side pans for feeding salt, grain or supplements, it can be used in either stall or paddock. These sturdy, dual-feed feeders are mainstays in many horse operations and they work exceedingly well for other species, too.Ī simple, natural way to feed large, stalled animals is the Noble Panels and Gates’ large, sturdy corner feeder manufactured of seamless molded poly- urethane. Priefert’s brawny Model HGFNB hay and grain feeder is built of similar materials and performs the same function. It’s designed to feed both hay and grain. The CM212 mounts on flat walls, the CM213 in corners and both hold a lot of hay.Īnother Country Manufacturing offering, the Model CM2125 combination feeder, is welded out of rugged, 16-gauge steel with heavy, steel hay bars. They’re welded of 7 ⁄ 16-inch hot-rolled steel and built to last. Nelson feeders have a built-in, feed-saver lip that prevents feed flinging they’re also warranted for one year.īasic, welded-rod hayracks like Country Manufacturing, Inc.’s models CM212 and CM213 wall-mounted units are a simple answer to feeding hay to stalled horses. Tough, longwearing, stainless-steel items like Nelson’s 13-quart Models 540se and 560se are hard to beat. Are they practical? Are goat feeders designed so that wasteful goats can’t climb in them and spoil good feed? Are hay feeders designed to catch chaff or does it fall on the ground and get ruined underfoot? Are the units easily cleaned? Repairable? Recyclable?Ī wide variety of feeders are designed to serve individually portioned concentrates indoors. Can all animals, even youngsters, reach the feeding stations?Ĥ. Sheep that reach up to nibble hay from a horse-feed bunk are constantly showered with fleece-ruining chaff horses will easily dump over and ruin a chest-high, sheep hay feeder. What works for horses may not work for smaller stock and vice versa. Are they designed for the animals that will use them? If your animals have horns, make certain feeders accommodate horned stock. Stability is an important feature top-heavy feeders are easily pushed over and often injure young stock.ģ. Larger feeders must be designed so foals and calves can’t get inside of them. Are they safe? Metal feeders with sharp edges tear skin.

Two kinds of studio headphones correspond to the qualities they need: open-back and closed-back headphones. Hence, although these activities both use studio headphones, they require different key characteristics. Rather, you will need headphones that sound natural, ensuring accuracy in the quality of its output. However, if you’re mixing audio, you won’t benefit from these features. This allows for a crisp and clean recording, free from external noise or interruption. Music recording requires headphones that can isolate noise and prevent sound from leaking from the ear cups into the microphone. This is normally done through manipulating different sound aspects. Meanwhile, audio mixing is the process of combining multiple sounds into one or more channels. Music recording refers to the act of creating a physical record of a musical performance, allowing its replay or reproduction. Let’s go through these considerations one by one. These include design, sound quality, and comfort, among others. There are key considerations you need to know in picking out studio headphones. So it’s still best to carefully consider which headphones you’d invest more to get the best audio recording or mixing experience, instead of simply going for the more expensive pairs. However, more expensive studio headphones don’t necessarily translate to better-quality headphones. This allows you to meticulously identify flaws in sound, and, thus, make necessary adjustments during production.įor this reason, studio headphones don’t usually come cheap. Studio headphones are designed to let you hear audio accurately. And that’s where studio headphones enter the picture. Thus, it’s crucial that what you hear while mixing or recording is faithful to the sound you will later play and produce.īut, this isn’t a feat that normal headphones can do. In the studio, you’ll be monitoring audio frequently, ensuring that the audio sounds great in every medium. Preheat the oven to 350°, spray a 12-cup muffin pan with oil (especially the top – we don't want the crumb topping to stick). This is my kids' favorite, they've literally come to tears over these muffins. We offer some guidance for this decision and navigating the upgrade process here:īest practices for updating your Mac's OS Pumpkin Spice MuffinsĪny OS upgrade is going to be more palatable with this seasonal treat. updating or upgrading your productivity applications). Upgrades can be disruptive, so we recommend that you wait a few weeks for the digital dust to settle, and that you set aside some time for the procedure in case it involves more than just updating the OS (e.g. When you apply the upgrade, however, is an important decision to make. If your Mac is less than five years old, then upgrading to Ventura makes sense – in general, it makes sense to keep your Mac's software up to date. (When) Should I upgrade my Mac to Ventura? I decided that that was annoying and misleading, so we added support for the new login item mechanism to CCC 6.1.3. In our case, the login item is "CCC Dashboard", but people were being notified that CCC was added as a login item. Additionally, the notification that you see indicates the application that added the login item, not the item that would be launched on login. You will undoubtedly see this barrage of notifications from other applications when you upgrade. Normally I don't immediately adopt brand-new features like this (because it makes it more complicated to support multiple OSes with one version of CCC), but we found that if we continued to use the old mechanism, the user would get frequent notifications that CCC had added a login item. In Ventura, Apple deprecated an older mechanism for adding login items, and replaced it with a new mechanism. Yeah, "login items" – you can imagine how exciting my summer was □. At that point you're prompted to authenticate, and then you're done. As a result, the procedure for granting Full Disk access to CCC and its helper tool on Ventura is now one step! When you start dragging CCC's "privacy fish", CCC will open the System Settings application and reveal the Full Disk Access controls, ready for the drop. They finally dropped the padlock paradigm, so pre-authentication is no longer required to unlock the settings in the Privacy panel. I'm delighted to report that Apple made a modicum of improvement to this process in Ventura. Normally that works fine, but it was still multiple steps, and users could take a wrong turn at any of those steps. Apple doesn't offer a programmatic interface for the "Full Disk Access" controls, so the best we can do is coach users through the procedure. These settings have been pretty annoying for developers and users alike. Privacy SettingsĪpple introduced new privacy settings in macOS Mojave, and they've been tweaking them in every OS release. Now that I've accepted using the Search feature, I think I'm actually a bit faster at using it. Apple was always meddling with the order of items in System Preferences, though, and I recall feeling disoriented every year in this application. I finally gave up and accepted that I'll just have to use the search bar to find things. Initially I was really flustered with the new layout. The name change seems innocuous, but the changes that Apple made to this application are really significant. So to spice things up, I added a recipe for Pumpkin Spice Muffins at the bottom. Overall, the changes are pretty bland, which means this article will not be very exciting. We have a mixed bag this year, and I wanted to point out just a couple things that work a little differently. We've been testing the new OS over the summer, and I'm pleased to report that CCC is ready to protect your data before and after you apply this upgrade – we added official Ventura support to CCC 6.1.3, which we posted back in September.Įvery year we make a handful of changes to CCC to support changes that Apple makes in the new OS. And of course, Apple is about to drop another new upgrade to macOS: Ventura. It's Fall here on the top of the globe, which means that temps are getting cooler, pumpkin seems to be in everything, and apples are in season. So how much are the Pro features going to set you back? Autodesk have introduced several licensing options that literally suit every taste: It’s not major but a nice addition – available in all editions, not just Pro. I’ve noticed this even on my 3yr old Mac hardware. The new SketchBook is 64 bit compatible which makes it run a little bit smoother on compatible hardware. If you’ve used SketchBook Pro 6 you’ll feel right at home. The team have done a great job integrating all the above into the same clean interface as in the previous version, combining related commands (like the shapes tool) into a single icon which opens a second menu where necessary. full brush customisations for every brush (just like in SketchBook Pro 6).Copic colours now have an ID on swatches.“clear layer” (where have you been all these years).gradient tool (expands the flood fill tool), for linear and circular gradients.improved selection tool with Magic Wand and “add” feature.adjustable Steady Stroke tool (it had a static value before).FlipBook tool (under File – New FlipBook) for animations with selectable onionskin feature (back and ahead).perspective rulers with up to 3 vanishing points, including circular ruler.perspective distortion / transform tool (skew and squish). If you choose to upgrade your account with a paid subscription or buy a proprietary license you get access to all Pro features which bring back everything that SKetchBook Pro 6 had, plus new tools such as: This is similar to the previous SketchBook Copic Edition and is a great tool to have for free. Logging in with a free SketchBook account (with your Autodesk ID or your favourite Social Network’s credentials) you get access to the “Essentials” features: those are more brushes, including blenders, a variety of Copic colours, 3 layers, the famous selection tool and a few other bits. But it works without the need for an account (unlike Adobe Creative Cloud products). It’s pretty basic, but it lets you test drive the engine and the interface and see if you like it. If you don’t have an account, or you’re not logged in, you’ll have access to the same features that you had in SketchBook Express: six standard brushes, six colour swatches and a colour picker and no layers. The drawing engine is the same across all editions Instead, you can create a free SketchBook account and login right from within the app, unlocking further features. SketchBook is now a single version for both Mac and PC and is completely free when installed. I’ll also give you a quick overview of what’s new and if it actually makes sense to upgrade at all. In this article I’ll tell you the major differences between your many buying options so you can decide which one is best for you. It even has a new icon that sets it apart from the mobile apps – which may change soon, depending on the companies other plans. Meet the new and improved Autodesk SketchBook, sometimes called SketchBook Pro 7. This summer a new version has appeared which introduces new features and a new licensing scheme which cleans up the jungle of SketchBook versions – at least on your desktop. Or so you’d think. If you’ve read my previous article then you know that I’m a big fan of Autodesk SketchBook Pro and its many variations. #TBT (37) #Throwback Thursday (25) #ThrowbackThursday (15) 13 (1) 2000 Year Old Man (6) 23 and Me (1) 2Cellos (1) 4000 Posts (1) 70 Years in the Promised Land (3) 9 to 5 (1) 92Y (1) 95th Birthday (1) A Beautiful Noise (1) A Bi Gezunt (1) A Bissel (2) A Cappella (36) A Hard Day's Night (1) A Joke to Start the Week (17) A Joke to Start the Week (44) A Million Dreams (1) A Minute of Yiddish (13) A Most Unusual Play (1) A Night at the Opera (2) A Night in Casablanca (2) A Tale of Two Dresses (2) A Taste of Honey (1) A Yiddishe Mama (1) Aardvark Israel (1) Aaron Lansky (1) Aaron Lebedeff (1) Aaron Schechter (1) Abanibi (4) Abaydaya (1) Abayudaya (1) Abbe Lane (1) Abbi Jacobson (1) Abbott and Costello (3) Abby Goldfarb (1) Abe Vigoda (1) About Jewish Humor Central (13) Abraham (1) Abraham Nickin (1) Abu Dhabi (1) Abuyadaya (1) Academy Awards (2) Accents (1) Accordion Band (1) Accordion Orchestra (1) Acheinu (2) Achinoam Nini (1) Acrobatics (1) Acronyms (1) Actors (2) Actors' Temple (1) Actors' Temple Kol Emeth (1) Adam B. I warmed up my ears by listening through the review playlist a number of times before slotting in the Benchmark AHB2. How problem tracks and LPs were presented.Comparison of older and modern tracks, with their different mastering priorities. The presentation of vinyl played via my turntable. The presentation of uncompressed LP rips served digitally.Comparison of standard and remastered versions of the same track.Comparison of local and Qobuz sourced versions of the same tracks. The ultimate question is whether these stellar measurements are reflected in what is heard? Above I quoted the power output of the Benchmark AHB2 into 8ohms, Benchmark provides a series of measurements at different loads in their specifications, it is refreshing to see the complexities of such specifications acknowledged. HiFi specifications are an interesting subset of lies, damned lies and statistics. This trades off some of the gains for other performance benefits.įeed-forward allows the identification and removal of any introduced noise and errors. Many amplifier designs use negative feedback. The Benchmark explanation of the feedforward technology can be found HERE. It briefly covers a number of areas including different amplifier topologies, before going through feedback and feedforward and moving on to the Benchmark AHB2 use of these techniques. The video interviews Laurie Fincham, a man with an impressive CV. The development of THX AAA is discussed HERE. The feedforward is a technology called THX Achromatic Audio Amplifier (THX AAA), achromatic indicating it is colourless. The Benchmark AHB2 uses both feedback and feedforward error correction. When the AHB2 was released it was the first time I had seen THX associated with a HiFi amp. THX was sold by Lucas to Razor Inc in 2016. If like me, you have an interest in Audio Visual (AV) then the Tomlinson Holman eXperience (THX) will be very familiar, something developed for George Lucas and first used for ‘The Last Jedi’, back when Star Wars films were worth watching. My intention was to listen to the amp through my Nearfield system before putting it up against my main system’s Naim 300DR. This power amp is a reassuringly heavy be-finned black box, I love the industrial business-like styling. The double boxed Benchmark AHB2 took a few weeks to arrive due to the supply issues that are bedevilling the world at the moment, it had to return from another reviewer. An excellent bit of kit and not greatly bettered by the Naim DAC that replaced it, but the extra nDAC inputs were very handy at the time and the added PSU improved the Naim further. The only Benchmark gear I have owned was a DAC1, which I used for two years. Later a friend who was using Pass amps was very keen to listen to the Benchmark based on the superb specs, but life intruded and so it never happened, but my peaked curiosity remained. When the Benchmark AHB2 came out I remember reading a couple of the reviews thinking what a neat little thing it was Stockholm syndrome, I had been conditioned by Naim shoe boxes.
