In MacOS, I’ve found that Safari provides the best experience, although I do use the Apple TV+ app, which of course is preinstalled. I don’t bother installing any of the apps for a given service. It supports 4K and high dynamic range (HDR) on most services, very specifically in the case of Netflix. In Windows 11, the best way to stream video is through the Edge browser. I’m also looking into Baldur’s Gate 3, which is available on Steam. I’m not a huge gamer, but I do play some strategy games like Civilization VI and role-playing games like Diablo IV. So, Steam and are two of the first apps I install. I also occasionally play a few games, stream media, and listen to a lot of music. Just for fun Jacob Roach / Digital Trends As I’m writing this, I’m thinking maybe I should look into some kind of antivirus protection for my Apple devices. I admit that I don’t install anything on my MacBook or iPad, which may or may not be a smart thing depending on your position on the security of Apple’s operating systems. It provides another layer of security against various types of malware, and it’s relatively unobtrusive. But, for additional peace of mind, I also install the free version of Malwarebytes. I rely on Windows 11’s default Defender antivirus app and functionality for my basic protection. PeaZip is a decent, free alternative on Mac. I use Archiver 4 on my MacBook, which is available for $20 directly from the vendor or the App Store. I also work with a lot of compressed files, and while Windows 11’s built-in functionality is fine for basic Zip files, I like the features provided by 7-Zip. This tool sorts through all of your files and provides a high-level overview of how much space everything takes up, which is helpful for creating some extra storage space. I don’t keep that many files on my MacBook, and so I don’t bother with an equivalent MacOS utility. I use TreeSize Free on Windows 11 to help me manage my rather complex file structure. In addition to the major apps, there are a few utilities that I also install. The personal version is already built into Windows 11, but you need the separate, business version to use it for work. ![]() I’m sure to install the corporate version so that I can connect to all relevant accounts. I barely use a fraction of the apps’ functionality, but I find it better than Windows 11’s built-in Snipping Tool. The PC limit is something I need to manage, but otherwise, it’s a great tool for grabbing screenshots and performing simple edits. There’s also a maintenance plan you can purchase that provides free upgrades. It costs $63, with special pricing for education and government, and it can be installed on two machines. But all add something that makes me more productive.įirst up is TechSmith’s Snagit. Some are free, and some are either upfront purchases or subscriptions. Those apps handle the basics, but there are still a few that I install for enhanced productivity. Enhanced productivity and security Digital Trends It’s a more cumbersome process, but not by much. On a MacBook and iPad, I need to manually download Microsoft Office, OneNote, OneDrive, and Skype, then configure and sign into each. It’s a simple process that’s built into muscle memory by now. OneNote requires additional configuration to open the files that I use the most. Or, rather, at least on Windows 11 PCs, I sign in with my Microsoft account during the initial setup and that automatically signs me into the suite (which is almost always already installed) and, typically, OneDrive as well. So, those are the first apps I install and configure. ![]() It doesn’t require much configuration on a new PC, because it syncs things like extensions automatically. I know that’s not the most popular choice, but I’ve tried all the major browsers and Edge just feels right to me. It’s a full office suite similar to Microsoft 365, though it lacks the centralized, cloud-synced functionality that Microsoft offers.įor web browsing, I use Microsoft Edge. Finally, I use Skype for basic messaging, mostly with my family.įor a free alternative, there’s Google’s cloud-based suite, but you can also download LibreOffice if you prefer the desktop experience. That provides both backup and syncing across the variety of devices I use, which include a few Windows 11 laptops (the Dell XPS 15 and XPS 13 Plus), an Apple MacBook Pro 14, my Windows 11 desktop, and an iPad Pro 11-inch. Since we’re on the topic of Microsoft, I also store my documents in OneDrive. The suite provides a lot more than that, but those are the apps I use the most. I settled on Microsoft products a long time ago, and so I currently use Microsoft 365, which gives me access to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. However, gelatin is not vegetarian, and may be unacceptable to those following strict kosher or halal diets. It dissolves safely in the stomach, releasing its contents within minutes. To my knowledge, there’s only one brand of commercially available kosher gelatin that is processed. You can find it in Jell-O, puddings, desserts, marshmallows, and many other food products. Of these thickeners, the only one that really gives me pause is the kosher gelatin. Yoplait® ParfaitPro® Dairy Free Vanilla is packaged in a multi-serve, 48-ounce bag that is pre-perforated for an easy three-step process that simply requires operators to tear, squeeze and toss with less waste than other bulk yogurts available in tubs. Rather Yoplait appears to be making regular yogurt, then adding MPCs to make it creamier and add protein, and finally adding thickeners to make it thicker. “General Mills is excited to give operators a product to help create more menu items with mainstream appeal in a convenient format that allows them to save time, space and waste.” “The creamy coconut base provides an indulgent taste experience without the dairy,” adds Chef Relf. The downloadable recipe collection can be found here. It holds up really well with no separation or curdling.”Ĭhef Relf also created several recipes using Yoplait® ParfaitPro® Dairy Free Vanilla, such as dairy-free buffalo coconut pulled chicken lettuce wraps, dairy-free pancakes and waffles, dairy-free coconut panna cotta, dairy-free coconut cream pie, vegan ranch dressing and more. It is often assumed that kosher gelatin is derived from a vegetarian source however, contrary to. Kosher gelatin also adds texture to the yogurt. Cornstarch and pectin act as thickening agents, making the yogurt creamier. “In addition to the expected parfaits and smoothies, the coconut-based yogurt alternative works well as an ingredient for both cold and hot applications, from entrees to soups. Modified cornstarch, kosher gelatin and pectin are all ingredients of Yoplait yogurt, which give the yogurt its texture. Ultimately, CYLOR regarding whether you may eat the yogurts in question.“Yoplait® ParfaitPro® Dairy Free Vanilla not only checks off a lot of boxes to meet a range of dietary preferences, but it’s also a great product to create a variety of savory and sweet menu items,” said Chef Kevin Relf, who is part of the Chefs of the Mills team and appreciates the role of high-quality ingredients in keeping menu items simple and delicious. This leniency is debated by poskim, although it is not generally accepted by major kashrus organizations. As you mentioned in a comment, Rabbi Sheinkopf permits products containing carmine, and perhaps Rabbi Hasden does as well. Additionally, both Dannon and Yoplait produce varieties of yogurt with carmine, an insect-derived coloring. The Dannon and Yoplait yogurts do contain gelatin (as indicated in the first two websites linked in the above paragraph). ![]() (Incidentally, according to this article, you are correct that the law does not prevent companies from putting the letter k on their products as they see fit).Īs Yishai mentions in his answer, some rabbis are lenient in certifying products with beef gelatin (see here). I do not know whether either of those rabbis provide supervision with kashrus standards that are widely considered acceptable. Tip: The more planar your crystal sculpt is, the more light it will catch, and the better your final result will be! Texture Creation & Preparationīefore we take our mesh into Marmoset Toolbag, we need to generate the textures that will drive our shaders. Afterwards, I import the base mesh into Zbrush where I subdivide it, refine, and add details. I begin by creating a very simple base mesh in the modeling software of choice (base mesh pictured left). The software packages used throughout this tutorial are Zbrush, 3ds Max, Substance Painter, and Marmoset Toolbag, of course! Sculpt You can see how I used this approach in my War Axe of the Ancient Tree asset. In my spare time, I enjoy making stylized art and I put together this tutorial together which covers my process for making stylized crystals. I hope you enjoyed this article, if you have any questions, I remain at your disposal on ArtStation, Twitter, and Instagram.Hello everyone! My name is Dylan Mellott, and I’m a Hard Surface 3D Artist currently working at DICE Los Angeles. The good publicity and popularity that it can bring you if your project is a visual success is a great bonus too. I use this technique all the time, and it works: I'm so eager to see the result and I absolutely want to keep going until the end. The best advice I can give you is to visualize what it might look like and imagine the end result in your head. The most difficult in this kind of project is to keep the motivation, it is very hard to work on the same project for 5-6 months in a row, and I often gave up during the previous project. ![]() ![]() The texturing still takes most of the time and is the most complex part, this is where you bring your project to life, it requires the most concentration and technique. I suddenly have a real idea of my working speed, and it is very important to know. The high poly of my next project was made in about thirty hours (exterior and interior included). It is important to do this because it allows you to know what your real working speed is and if someone wants to buy your model, it will give you a better idea of the price you can set. I'm currently doing another car and I'm calculating my working time using an application called Clockify. This project lasted 7 months, I didn't work on it every day and sometimes I didn't even touch it for 1-2 weeks. I already model with my desired number of vertices, this avoids making too many modifications later. This allows you to have a completely sound base and to model the most complex shapes quite easily. ![]() The first thing is to create an outline of all the shapes of the car. This workflow is taken from one of my favorite artists in terms of car modeling: Karol Miklas, I invite you to see his article on 80 Level. That's why I'm going to share with you my new workflow, much more appropriate for car modeling and much more efficient. I then subdivided it and used DynaMesh the problem with this process is that you lose a lot of quality when baking because DynaMesh restricts you to a certain number of polygons. What I did for this project is I started doing all the low poly in Polygon and sent it all into ZBrush. To be honest with you, I'm currently working on a new car, and my workflow is completely different from my FJ60.
